Member Meeting - October 21, 2026

Presentation: Oral Medicine Round Table: Practical Tips from Clinical Practice   Dr. Dean will present a series of short cases highlighting key features in the diagnosis and management of oral lesions/orofacial conditions commonly encountered in dental practice. Cases will review immune-mediated mucosal and salivary disorders, adverse effects of medical and dental therapies, and risk assessment in oral premalignant disorders. The session will end with an oral pathology “lightning round” (time permitting).

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize key signs and symptoms of oral mucosal and salivary disorders commonly encountered within dentistry. 
  • Develop strategies to determine when to watch, when to treat, and when to refer these conditions to a specialist.
  • Improve confidence in using over-the-counter interventions and prescription in the management of these conditions. 

About our Presenter: Dr. Dean is the Oral Medicine graduate program director at the University of Washington SOD, and the clinical director of the Oral Medicine service at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. A lifelong Husky, he completed his BS, DDS, and MSD in Oral Medicine at UW.  He is a diplomat of the American Board of Oral Medicine, a fellow in the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, a fellow in the American College of Dentists, and a Seattle Met “Top Dentist” in the field of Oral Medicine. Academic honors include the Bruce R. Rothwell distinguished teaching award, and the UWSOD Dental Alumni Faculty award, among many others. He lives in Edmonds with his wife, Dr. Brittany Dean (a pediatric dentist) and his dog Hardy (a literal Husky). He enjoys collecting books and lifting heavy things.
